Elzbieta didn’t know she was Jewish as her parents had never said. In 2002 she met a distant cousin who told her she was Jewish. She then understood things from her childhood like her mother baking challah, keeping garlic on the tablecloth and Saturday being special with (what she later learned) Ashkenazi cooking. “My life was like a puzzle. When I found out I was Jewish, the puzzle was full. I found my place in this world,” she said. Her youngest daughter was soon to go on Taglit. July 24, 2016.
